Product development

The brief began with a simple idea: translate the character of an oak tree into wearable headwear.

The work was not applying an oak graphic to an existing bonnet. The identity of the object had to come from its physical form.

Concept → proportion → construction → prototype → production-ready design.

From character to repeatable construction

Creating an expressive animal-inspired product means balancing character with function, comfort and repeatability.

The final object needs to remain recognisable while still working as a product that can be produced consistently.

Concept → pattern → material → prototype → production.

From new ideas to a working production system

A collection is not complete when the design looks good.

Products need materials, patterns, sizing, production instructions, costing, quality control and repeatability.

This ongoing work behind SHÓMKA forms part of the practical production knowledge behind PINEFLECT.
